Is it Sharknado? No, just a bird who unfortunately lost a hard-won meal. Still, it's not a regular occurrence for families to find a fish has fallen out of the sky and into their yard, let alone a baby shark. No wonder that Sue Bowser at first dismissed the kids' claims as exaggeration. When she went outside and saw the 13-inch shark for herself, she knew it was worth preserving, even temporarily in the garage freezer.
The baby shark is now talk of the town, and something even visiting family is looking forward to seeing in person. Few people get a chance to encounter a shark up close, let alone touch the unique skin. Although sharks have a very smooth, leathery appearance, their skin is actually comprised of tiny scales that feel like sandpaper if rubbed in the opposite direction. The baby shark is bound to be a lasting family memory and a great trigger for conversations about biology and the life cycle.
