Sherry Blackledge and her husband Craig always wanted to have children. After years of trying, the two realized a natural childbirth wasn't in the cards for them. After adopting a baby boy and living happily as parents, something Sherry never anticipated occurred that would change her life.
While working a shift in the maternity ward in Laurel, Mississippi, a pregnant woman who could not keep her child and had nowhere else to turn ended up giving Sherry her newborn baby Brooke. At the time of the adoption, there were so many emotions flying around in her head, but the strongest of all was love.
When Brooke was a little over a year old Sherry wrote a letter to her new daughter, telling her how much she loved her. Sherry held on to that letter for 20 years and decided that she wanted Brooke to read it on her wedding day. Sherry wanted it to be even more special, so she went to a local printmaker and had them convert the letter to a patch that could be sewn into Brooke's wedding dress.
