It's every harried parent's nightmare - you're rushing out the door, have the baby in one arm and the diaper bag and your briefcase in the other. After securing your child in her car seat you race to work, park the car and run up to the office - only to realize that you're still holding a diaper bag and the baby's still in the car! Unfortunately, for some parents that nightmare becomes a grim reality.
Many people will express shock that any parent could forget his or her child. But a number of others will understand what it's like to be so exhausted and busy that you can barely remember your own name. Alas, that still leaves this sad statistic as true: during the summer months, a child dies every other day as the result of being locked in a hot car. Terrifying, isn't it?
Well, a group of students at Rice University decided to change that statistic. They invented an app solution so that parents will never forget leaving their infant behind ever again. Watch the video below to see the carseat accessory they developed that will make it impossible to leave a child in the car.
