Patricia Drauch momentarily stepped away from her son to grab a gardening tool out of the garage. When she made her way back, her 14-month-old toddler was nowhere in sight. A frantic Patricia searched everywhere she could until she noticed something strange. Her baby boy Stanley was in the pool, but appeared to be floating, his head remaining above the water. "It looked like Stanley was floating," she said.
When Patricia looked closer she noticed that that wasn't entirely the case. She realized that Bear, the family dog, was doing his best to hold Stanley up, balancing the toddler on his back. Bear's heroic actions put Stanley in a position to survive, but the Drauchs weren't home free yet. After Patricia's 911 call failed to through, the family packed up and headed to the hospital. On the way, Stanley coughed up some water and finally began to respond to his Mom. X-rays showed no signs of water in Stanley's lungs. Thanks to Bear, he would be just fine.
